16 Week Belly

Here is the belly picture for week 16! I am starting to look pregnant, not just a little thick through the middle, and I am so excited! The belly really popped out a few days ago. While I did not gain any weight during the first trimester, right at the beginning of the second trimester I put on four pounds in four days. My diet was not drastically different, whatever pregnancy hormone is responsible for weight gain simply notified my body that it was time to put on a few pounds, and I did – quickly and dramatically! My weight then stabilized just as quickly, so I am remaining at a four-pound total weight gain. It is a somewhat strange sensation to be out of control of my body in such a way, but on the other hand it is fascinating, and reassuring, to watch my body doing exactly what it needs to in order to nourish this baby.
